Through the Press Conference for electronic and print media President BSP, Sh S.R Majotra submitted the following points for addresal please :
Rationalisation of Reservation in J&K on 30-01-2020 according to Reservation Act 2004 of the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir, reflects double standards of the Govt. If all other central laws are being extended to J&K, then why not Central Reservation Policy ?
For reservation to Economically Weaker Sections,(EWS) ,Govt has adopted all India pattern but for SC/OBCs, it has adopted local Reservation policy which is a clear violation of the principle of “One nation, One Constitution”. Why Govt is shying to have “ One Nation , One Reservation “.
OBC people were granted 27% Reservation in all states of the country in 1993 but 2% in J&K because of article 370. Thus state OBCs could not get the benefit of the Reservation at par with rest of the country. Now when state has been converted into a UT, there is no reason to keep OBC people deprived of their right of 27% quota. Similarly, benefit of Reservation in promotion to SC is going on in rest of the country but not in J&K. All this has exposed anti-reservation mindset of the Govt. BSP had supported the Reorganisation Bill in the Parliament with hopes that Govt shall deliver justice to all sections of society on the pattern of National Policy. It was hoped that 26 year old issue of OBCs and issue of Reservation in promotion for SCs will automatically be resolved with conversion of state into UT but it is unfortunate that it didn’t happen. So, BSP condemns and rejects this Reservation Policy adopted by Govt of J&K UT which is irregular, biased and unconstitutional. BJP has betrayed the SC/ST/OBC people of J&K UT and BSP is going to take this issue in a big way.
For getting the uniform Reservation Policy at par with other UTs of the country, BSP will arrange protest rallies and Dharna for the legitimate rights of the weaker sections. We, appeal all sections of society to realise the anti -reservation approach of the RSS backed Govt at the centre and join BSP fight for fighting for their rights.
