A massive rally was organised today by the Yuva Rajput Sabha, Jammu, to commemorate the 130th Birth Anniversary of Maharaja Hari Singh Ji, the last Dogra ruler of Jammu and Kashmir.
Hundreds of participants, including youth, elders, and community leaders, took part in the rally, raising slogans in praise of the Maharaja and carrying banners and portraits highlighting his legacy.
Speaking on the occasion, leaders of the Yuva Rajput Sabha recalled Maharaja Hari Singh Ji’s historic contributions in the fields of education, social reforms, and justice, noting his famous pledge — “Justice is my religion.”

, Jammu and Kashmir Lt Governor Manoj Sinha on Tuesday paid tribute to erstwhile Dogra Maharaja Hari Singh on his 130th birth anniversary.
The L-G said on his X, “Tributes to Maharaja Hari Singh Ji on his Janm-Jayanti. A statesman of excellence & harbinger of change, he introduced landmark reforms to ensure welfare of common man. His legacy of inclusive governance, progressive vision & contributions to motherland continues to inspire us.”
Jammu and Kashmir Bharatiya Janata Party today celebrated the birth anniversary of Maharaja Hari Singh with great reverence here at the party headquarters.
The tribute programme was led by J&K BJP President Sat Sharma, Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha) Jugal Kishore Sharma, Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) Gulam Ali Khatana, and others.
Senior leaders, MLAs, office bearers, and district presidents joined the programme, which began with the garlanding of Maharaja Hari Singh’s bust and floral tributes to his portrait.
Speaking on the occasion, Sat Sharma said that the entire Jammu and Kashmir is celebrating the birthday of the great ruler Maharaja Hari Singh with pride because “today, we are an inseparable and proud part of the great Indian nation due to his vision and courage.”
He described the Maharaja as a legendary social reformer who ruled not for power but to serve his people.
He said that the Maharaja Hari Singh granted the right to education to women and underprivileged, gave rights of worship to the Dalits, and initiated Panchayati Raj reforms.
His philosophy was clear, as a ruler he had no religion, justice was his religion.
Jugal Kishore Sharma recalled the Maharaja’s role in uniting J&K with India.
He said that due to deep-rooted conspiracies, Maharaja Hari Singh was forced to leave his beloved state.
It was the first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru, who conspired with Mountbatten and Sheikh Abdullah to sideline the Maharaja and create unrest for decades, he said.
Gulam Ali Khatana said that Maharaja Hari Singh always worked for the oppressed, neglected, and downtrodden. Unfortunately, political conspiracies undid much of his legacy.
Today, it is only under Prime Minister Modi that justice is being delivered to the people of J&K with a clear, nationalist vision, he said.
Dr. Narinder Singh emphasized that the Congress continued the British practice of weakening nationalists for its own gains.
Congress has always stood against national interest. They tried to erase Maharaja Hari Singh’s contributions from history, he added.
The programme witnessed emotional tributes from senior BJP leaders, who vowed to keep the Maharaja’s ideals alive.
They stressed that his vision of justice, equality, and inclusive governance remains as relevant today as it was during his reign. Meanmwhile, Jammu and Kashmir Congress today paid tributes to Maharaja Hari Singh on his 130th birth anniversary, remembered his ”visionary and progressive rule” and pledged to intensify the movement for the restoration of the full state of ‘Maharaja Sahib’.
A team of Senior Congress leaders led by former minister and Working President Raman Bhalla, Chief Spokesperson and Ex MLC Ravinder Sharma offered floral tributes at the statue of Maharaja Hari Singh at Tawi Bridge in th eheart of Jammu city.
Speaking on the occasion, Raman Bhalla said Maharaja Hari Singh was a visionary and progressive ruler who brought several social reforms through his rule.
He said maharaja Hari Singh brought landmark legislation to protect the land, jobs and natural resources of J and K and enacted state subject laws.
Bhalla said Maharaja Hari Singh’s state was disbanded, divided and downgraded, removing all safeguards for land, jobs and natural resources by the BJP government.
“It amounts to insulting Maharaja Hari Singh, for which the BJP should apologize to Maharaja and people of his state, especially Dogras,” he added.
He said that Congress had taken a pledge at the statue of Maharaja Hari Singh before proceeding to Delhi Chalo campaign for statehood that we shall fight for restoration of full statehood.
“We are determined to fight for the restoration of full statehood and shall intensify the struggle after the situation arising from rain/ floods improves,” he stated.
Talking to reporters on the sidelines of the event, Chief Spokesperson Ravinder Sharma referred to the landmark progressive decisions of Maharaja Hari Singh, who declared that Justice is my religion and all religions belong to him.
He brought several landmark reforms and signed the accession of J&K with India. He was a true nationalist and will always be remembered for his contributions.
