The Annual General Body meeting of the Trustees of Gurjar Desh Charitable Trust was held on 6th January 2019 at Trust Complex, Jammu. Trustees from all over the State participated in the meeting. To achieve the aims and objective of the Trust 156 new Trustees have been inducted and total strength has gone upto 189. The new Members inducted from the community are from different walks of life who have excelled in various fields such as Education, Engineering, Administration and Sports etc.
The meeting was presided over by Jenab Masud A Choudhary, Patron-in-Chief of Trust. Chairman of the Trust Ch. Abdul Hamid read the welcome address, Annual Report was presented by Ch. Bashir Ahmed Noon, General Secretary and Ch. Shah Mohammad Advocate read the brief history of Trust from its inception.
Jb. Mausd A Choudhary, Patron-in-Chief of GDCT apprised the members that the Trust was started from zero in the year 1991 with the sole aim to uplift the tribal Gujjar community socially, educationally and to preserve the culture, language and rich tradition of Gujjars. To achieve its aims and objectives an educational institution namely Brig. Khuda Baksh Memorial Public Hr. Sec. School was established in the year 1994. A Cultural Centre and Library was also established in the year 1996. K B Public School is presently having a strength of 1200 students and this is one of the best School among the top educational institution in Jammu. Student of this School have excelled in various fields especially education and sports. Students of this school have participated in national as well as international sports events and brought laurels not only to the School and community but to the entire State as well. A girls’ Hostel has also been established within the School in which 110 students from far-flung areas are studying and accommodated who are being provided boarding and lodging facilities by the Trust. This year in-house Hostel facilities shall be increased to 200.
In today’s General Body meeting it was resolved take steps to inculcate the spirit of national integration amount the community and voice its aspirations boldly vociferously and all-out efforts shall be made that the nomad population is rehabilitated and literacy rate amongst the community is improved. It was also decided that, since the Trust has completed 25 years of its existence, so Silver Jubilee shall be celebrated during the current year. While speaking on the occasion the Patron-in-Chief Mr. Choudhary said that K B Public Hr. Sec. School being run under the aegis of Trust shall be upgraded and job oriented courses shall be introduced during this year. He further said that Vocational/ Tutorial Centre shall also be upgraded. He also revealed that Trust shall conduct seminars on regular basis on different subjects pertaining to the Gujjar community. He also hinted at the Cultural Center’s renovation with all digital facilities including the provision of Air-Condition etc.
Mr. Choudhary exhorted the Members to make efforts to arrange funds for achieving the aims and objectives of the Trust. It was informed that Trust is contemplating to improve the sports infrastructure at K B Public Hr. Sec. School.
Finally, Mr. Masud A Choudhary said that distinguished personalities from the community shall be honored from time to time so that they are encouraged further to excelled in their respective fields.
