J&K Bank Academy and Hero Club as also Acro FC Baramulla won their respective matches to move into the next round of the ongoing 12th Christmas Gold Cup Football Tournament, organised by All J&K Christian Welfare Association, at GGM Science College here today.
In the first match of the day Acro FC defeated Churchill Brothers 4-1. Mehraj struck thrice in the 23rd, 43rd and 65th minute to help the side make it a big win. Waseem was other scorer from Acro FC. Earlier, Churchill Brothers took the first lead when Rumman netted the ball in the sixth minute of the game but could not consolidate on the early advantage thereby lost the game.
Second match of the day won by Hero Club, who trounced Titan FC Anantnag by a solitary goal. The only goal of the match came through Ishan in the 27th minute.
Meanwhile, in another match of the day, J&K Bank Academy outplayed Young Rovers 2-0. Pardeep Singh (11th) and Ankit Mehta (66th) were the scorers.
Today’s matches officiated by the technical penal including Koushal Kumar, Rocky, Nitika Thapa, Ricky, Vijay Kumar, Dil Bahadur and Mohinder Kalsi (Physio).
Prominent among those present from the Association and organising committee were Zamir Thakur SM Gill, Sheikh Mehmood, David Masih, Nazir Ahmed, Ramesh Chander, Yousaf Don, Featus Sotra, Harbans Lal, Charan Dass and Narinder Gupta.
FIXTURES: DFA Anantnag V/s NGR at 11.30 am; Sainik Colony V/s Young Heros at 1.30 pm; Bank Academy V/s Vijay Club at 3 pm tomorrow.
