Jammu, Nov 8:
In what may be called as the third biggest seizure of heroin this year in Jammu, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) arrested a truck driver, a resident of Kupwara, who was found to be carrying 50 kg of heroin worth Rs 250 crore in apple Lauren truck. According to NCB’s Zonal Director Virender Yadav, the truck from Jammu was destined for Delhi. On specific information, the NCB sleuths intercepted the truck at Banihal toll plaza near Jammu on November 5 and during the unloading of wooden apple boxes, they found that the drugs were packed in pouches stuffed under the apple crates. There were at least 50 such pouches. The truck was later unloaded in Delhi. Significantly, in the last three months, the NCB has seized 161 kg of heroin valuing Rs 800 crore from Jammu alone. The seized consignments, according to sources, originated from Afghanistan and reached Jammu Kashmir via Pakistan.
