Hindi Play “Ek Akeli Aurat” staged by sangam theatre group Reasi

Dario Fo’s play Originally written in-Spanish and translated in Hindi by Himanshu Joshi, “Ek Akeli Aurat” and adaptation by Sanjogita Mishra was staged by sangam theatre group Reasi here today at Matrika Auditorium Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University Katra. The Play was directed by M. Akram Khan and supported by Ministry of Culture (Govt. of India).Under the project CFPGS 2017-18.
Prof Sanjeev Jain Vice Chancellor of SMVD University Katra was the chief guest, while Dr Varun Tripathi President Board of Cultural Activities and Dean of Humanities and Social Sciences was the Guest of Honour while Dr Rakesh Kumar Vice President board of Cultural activities was the special guest.
The story revolves around a lady who is talkative and loves company but is confined in a house by her chauvinist husband. She feels lonely and looks for company with all sorts of means in the house.
She has two children and a perverted brother-in-law who is restricted to a wheelchair. She keeps chatting, exclaiming with her neighbor demonstrating her emotions with extreme measures to save her sanity. She is haunted by a crank caller, a money lender, a young lover and also exploited by her brother-in-law. Anger, frustration, restlessness, hope, regret, guilt and determination define her inner turmoil.
Ek Akeli Aurat is a testimony to the human spirit and demonstrates what we are all capable of doing when pushed to the limit of our patience. A character is found seldom in the society which is bold, beautiful and brave!
The Chief Guest appreciated the artist who staged the wonderful performance and also appreciated the efforts made by the sangam theatre group Reasi. The play was highly like by the audience who non-stop clapped for the participants who portrayed every character expertly.
The artist who performed the different characters included Sukandaya Devi as Suman , Bodh Raj Meania as Satish Obray, Shivani Wazir as Kalpana, Amar Chauhan as Kaya (Daughter) Danish Bhardwaj as Kannav, Akram Khan as Father & Film Maker, Aamir Khan as Add Director .

Raj, Make-up by Parerna Bharti, Property by Priyinka Bharti, Lights by Gourav Jamwal, Sound by Shadab Khan, Photography by Raja A. Khan, Video by Heramani Singh, other who present on the occasion included Narinder Singh Wazir, Dr Kuldeep Raina, Vikram Sharma, Sanjeev Batra, Gourav Jamwal & others. Sh O.P Sharma Rtd. Dy. Secretary JKAACL was also witness the Play. Lastly the vote of thanks presented by the director Sangam Theatre group.
