Following instructions from the Union government to organize week-long programs from 05 June 2024 to 12 June 2024 to commemorate World Environment Day, the Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) depot in Jammu organized a program at Narwal, Jammu.
In addition to senior officers of the Depot, other stakeholders including office bearers of the Transport Union, drivers, cleaners, and subordinate staff members of the depot also attended the event.
HPCL Depot In-charge Ashish Samalia, accompanied by another senior officer, Abhishek, and S. Ranjit Singh Raina, President of the Jammu and Kashmir Oil & LPG Tank Truck Drivers and Cleaners Union, distributed plant saplings to the drivers and cleaners.
They urged the recipients to not only plant them in suitable locations but also to take care of them.
While addressing the gathering, Ashish requested the participants to respect nature and contribute to maintaining a clean environment as much as possible.
S. Harasis Singh, spokesperson for the union president, thanked the HPCL authorities for organizing the event and giving away free saplings of different kinds of plants to the drivers and cleaners. He also highlighted other social initiatives supported by HPCL under their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs.
