Government High School Bedar and Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) Mandi won boys under-14 and under-19 titles respectively in the Inter-school Khelo India Volleyball Tournament, organised by the Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) under the guidance of District Development Commissioner (DDC) at GHSS Mandi grounds, here today.
Earlier, in the under-14 final, High School Bedar defeated Middle School Mandi 3-0. In a preliminary round match, Middle School Mandi trounced MS Jandrola in straight sets. Similarly, in under-19 category, HSS Mandi outplayed High School Arai Malika 3-0. Semifinals: HSS Mandi bt HSS Loran 3-2; High School Arai Malika bt HS Bedar 3-0.
The technical penal comprised Jatinderpaul Sharma, Manjit Singh, Sukhbir Singh, Rajesh Sharma, Amresh Sharma, Rajinder Singh, Harmik Singh, Shabbir, Shamhoon – ul-haq and Ashok Sharma.
The event was declared open by Principal Boys HSS Mandi, Rashpal Singh who was chief guest. Prominent among others present were Surinder Singh (ZPEO Sathra), Veerta Devi (ZPEO Mandi), Rajinder Prasad and Rajinder Kumar.
