Jammu, November 23, 2019:            Hundreds of Congress workers today took out a strong protest demonstration in Jammu against  the flawed economic policies of Modi Govt. leading to unprecedented  price hike, large scale unemployment  and overall economic slowdown besides lodging its protest over the arbitrary action of disbanding of J&K State into UT and over all threat to democratic system in the Country.

Led by JKPCC Chief Shri G.A. Mir, all senior leaders of party including  former ministers, legislators, PCC and DCC functionaries and leaders of frontal wings of the party marched from Congress HQ Shahidi Chowk up to DC Office, carrying banners and play cards and raising slogans against the BJP Government highlighting unprecedented price hike, rising unemployment, overall economic crisis facing the country besides demanding restoration of  statehood for J&K with constitutional guarantees for land and jobs to the local youths and lodging strong protest against the arbitrary unconstitutional and undemocratic methods being adopted by the BJP Government at the Centre.

 A large number of Congress workers and activists of different frontal wings like Mahila Congress, Youth Congress, Seva Dal, NSUI, INTUC, leaders of various districts including Corporators assembled at Shahidi Chowk and marched to DC Office Jammu where a memorandum was submitted by PCC Chief along with Senior Leaders to the President of India through District Administration.

Addressing the gathering Shri G.A. Mir lashed out at the BJP Government  for the worst  kind of economic situation and slow down in the country due to the flawed economic policies like demonetization and disoriented implementation of the GST and other such  moves leading to  over all economic crisis in the country. He said that the  GDP growth is lowest for the last six years, new private investment have touched lowest  of the sixteen years, the NPA  of Bank is over 8 lac crores and there were around 25 thousand cases of Bank fraud during BJP regime  involving 1,74,255 crores.  The  state of economic mess  is evident from the fact that the BJP Government is now tapping the emergency reserve of RBI meant to be used in times of war or other grave emergencies .  A total of 3 Lac and 89 thousand crores have been  transferred from RBI reserves to the Govt. and the RBI has started to sell its gold reserves in the open market.

He said that the Country is facing joblessness and unemployment  of the  records  45 years high as per official data. The  Agriculture sector is one of the worst hit and the farmers of the country are worst affected due to the wrong policies of Modi Govt. which is giving slogans of doubling the income of farmers.  He said a grave financial emergency is knocking at our doors and the BJP Govt. is indulging in hollow slogans and false chest beating  regarding the  economic  situation.

Referring to the situation of Jammu and Kashmir, PCC Chief  lashed out at the  arbitrary manner in which a historic state has been disbanded, divided and downgraded to the level of  UT in a most undemocratic and unconstitutional  manners and the continued restrictions of various kinds on the main stream political parties and their leaders in the largest democracy of the world. He said that  people  want restoration of full statehood with constitutional guarantees to safe guards the rights  to the land and jobs to the youth at the earliest.

He referred to the undemocratic action of installation of BJP Govt. in Maharashtra and termed it as a murder of democratic values  for the lust of power by adopting all sorts of unfair and foul means by the BJP as a result the democratic system is in danger in the Country. He said  that it is a dangerous trend  for the country and  would weaken the  democratic system and values  in the country  and all democratic forces in the country  should unite  to safe guards the democracy in the country which is in danger today.
