JAMMU, May 21:
Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) Jammu Ministry of External Affairs celebrated ‘World Culture Day’ with big fun-fare here today at ICCR Jammu headquarters.
The programme featured the screening of a unique film ‘Celebrating Diversity’ showcasing the traditional dance diversity of the state of Jammu and Kashmir.
The programme featured the variegated variety of colors, costumes, rhythms, stylistic movements, and cultural expressions expressed through the traditional dance forms of the state. Starting from Dogri the programme transported to a mesmerising journey of Kashmiri, Ladakhi, Gojri, Pahari, Bhadarwahi, and Balti dance traditions of the state. Each dance presentation despite being different from the other in rhythm and pace was artistically blended with each other so as to present their harmony and co-relation. The programme culminated through the presentation of a mega performance ‘Unity in diversity of J&K’, exclusively designed and composed to portray the harmony and the cultural co-existence of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. This presentation also represented the vision of the new generation of the artists of Jammu & Kashmir who are not only reviving the wonderful dying artistic expressions in their own way but also believe in integration of the state through cultural and artistic initiatives.
