Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) Ministry of External Affairs Government of India felicitated eminent Ghazal Singer Jitender Singh for his outstanding performance in ICCR’s Horizon Series programme here this evening at K.L. Sehgal Hall, Abhinav Theatre Complex Jammu. Speaking on occasion Regional Director ICCR J&K said that Jitender Singh is one of the most celebrated Ghazal Singer of the state of J&K who has given a new identity to this to this singing form through his own style evolved through a long process of training, practice of over 30 years and experimentation in this style of singing.
He holds the credit of being the first ‘Top Grade’ Ghazal singer of the state of J&K and also the first empanelled singer of Jammu in ICCR. In brought laurels for the state of J&K by performing repeatedly in music concerts abroad including in England, USA, Germany, Spain, Italy, Sweden, Singapore Oman and Mauritius. He also holds the honour of having performed in the honour of majority of the Prime Ministers of India including P.V. Narsima Rao, I.K. Gujral, Dev Gowda, Chander Shekhar, Atal Bihari Bajpai, Manmohan Singh and Nariender Modi. Jitendra Singh is an established ghazal,bhajan and soofi singer of India and have performed worldwide.
Jammu takes pride in the fact that he is the first singer of the state who performed with great maestros of Indian performing arts including Jagjit Singh, Ustad Zakir Hussain, and Pandit Birju Maharaj.
