JAMMU, Sept 26:
The Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC), Jammu, organized a two-day “Swachhata Hi Sewa Campaign,” here today in which a thought-provoking theatre performance was held by enthusiastic participation from students across various departments, including English Journalism, Digital Media, and Hindi Journalism.
The event was aimed at spreading awareness about cleanliness and hygiene.
The first performance was presented by the students of Digital Media, titled “Pani Ki Pukar”, which emphasized the critical importance of water conservation and maintaining water cleanliness. The play focused on the idea that clean water can positively impact society if water resources are regularly maintained and purified. Participants in “Pani Ki Pukar” were Tamanna, Preety, Anuja, Netra, Pranav, Adil, Aabhay, Nisha, Janvi, Madhuri, Anamika, Varun Vijay and Shruti. Following this, students from the Hindi Journalism department presented a play titled “Swachhata Ki Saudebazi”. This play messaged as cleanliness should not be a superficial act or for mere display, but rather a committed effort to improve society.
They emphasized the importance of genuine involvement in maintaining cleanliness at home, in the city, and throughout the nation.
Participants in ” Swachhata Ki Saudebazi ” included Shivam Sharma, Shubham Pandey, Nikhil Nayan, Mohit Singh, Punita Kumari, Indrajeet Kumar, Prasaananta Gadhavi, Himanshi Bora, Himanshu Jat, Aman Singh, Suraj Kumar and Siddharth Maurya. At last, English Journalism students performed a play titled “Kahan Soch? Kahan Sochalya,” which highlighted the critical importance of proper sanitation and the continued issue of open defecation in certain parts of the country. Students stressed the need for immediate action to address this persistent social problem.
Participants in “Kahan Soch? Kahan Sochalya” included Anjali, Aditya, English, Saloni Haider, Puneet, Dixit, Binit, Maitrayee, Akshita and Stuti. The event was moderated by Harshit and Chandrani Das, who skilfully guided the audience through the performances. The Regional Director of IIMC Jammu, Dr. Dilip Kumar, played a pivotal role in planning the event, ensuring its smooth execution and success. Prof. Anil Saumitra, course coordinator for Hindi Journalism, emphasized the importance of such activities in the holistic development of students. He encouraged the students to continue organizing similar events that foster creativity and teamwork.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Vinit Utpal, Assistant Professor, Digital Media, who expressed gratitude to Dr. Ravia Gupta, Assistant Professor and convenor of the event, as well as Mr. Gulshan Kumar and Mr. Madhusudan, Academic Associates and co-convenors of the event for their contributions.
