India inks deal to purchase 31 Predator drones from US

New Delhi, Oct 15 :

India on Tuesday signed an agreement with the United States for procurement of 31 Predator MQ-9B Sky drones.
The Ministry of Defence in a post on social media platform X said, “Ministry of Defence today inked a contract with the US Government for Tri-Service procurement of 31 MQ-9B Sky/Sea Guardian High Altitude Long Endurance (HALE) Remotely Piloted Aircraft System (RPAS).”
The contracts were inked in the presence of Defence Secretary Giridhar Aramane and other senior officials of both the countries.
On this occasion, an agreement was also signed with the Atomic Global India Private Limited for logistics, repair and maintenance of these drones in India.
According to sources, Navy will get 15 Predator drones while Air Force and Army will get eight Predator drones each. According to an estimate, the price of this deal is Rs 32,000 crore.
