Mount Maunganui: Former Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh was all praise for Team India, saying Virat Kohli’ men were the better side.
The Men in Blue sealed the ODI series against New Zealand following their seven-wicket win in the third match here on Monday with two games to spare.
This comes following the historic double in Australia, where they won the Test and ODI series.
“This current New Zealand are definitely a better team than Australia but don’t forget how well India played. Sometimes, we look to the other teams play well and we forget how good our own team is and that no team can stand in front of our team. It is great to see the way our team is playing. Everyone is in form,” the 38-year-old said to India Today.
“New Zealand is a good team but India were better,” he added.
Harbhajan also hailed a ‘phenomenal’ Mohammed Shami.
“I would like to talk about Mohammed Shami. He has been phenomenal, he is someone who India will need at the World Cup and it is so good to see him picking up those wickets and winning the man-of-the-match,” he said.
Kohli has been rested for the last two ODIs and the three-match T20 series. Rohit Sharma will captain the side in his absence. But when asked Curran how he hopes to get the prized scalp of Kohli, the 23-year-old right-arm pacer said: “Hopefully not with a no-ball! We’ll see. He’s an unbelievable player.”
The ICC event will be played in Australia from October 18 to November 15 next year.
India will face off against England at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on November 1.
