Annual Inter-Battalion sports meet helps promote sports culture among various ranks of the belt force thus improve mutual understanding and decision making capacity of those competing for the top honours in the five-day mega event in the Winter Capital. This was stated by the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Armed, Danesh Rana while divulging the details of the Inter-Battalion Sports meet of J&K Armed Police at different venues, here in a media interaction held at Armed PHQ, here today.
“Such an event certainly helps promote sports culture among our Jawans and officials belonging to different parts of the state and representing their Battalions located in different locations within the state get opportunities to intermingle and improve their decision making capacity,” said the IGP Armed.
The event shall be declared open by the ADGP Armed on December 26 “The event also help us find young, energetic and outstanding talent who in future will be representing J&K Armed Police in the Inter Zonal Sports Meets and then find berth in the Centre teams of the J&K Police for taking part in the All India Police meet and other National level competitions,” mentioned Danesh Rana.
He said that 33 Battalions of Armed Police shall be participating in the event and added that suitable arrangements with regard to their reception, accommodation, transport and other allied facilities have been put in place. Various committees have been constituted, so that participating contingents may not face any problems during their participation in the event, he added. “The participants will be competing in the disciplines of Basketball, Volleyball, Tug-of-War, Boxing, Wrestling, Judo, Weightlifting, Football, Handball, Kabaddi, Wushu, Hockey, Shooting, Athletic, Badminton, Table Tennis, Lawn Tennis and Archery during the five-day long event. The games will be played as per the rules and regulations of All India Police Sports Board,” the IGP informed.
