JAMMU, Sept 13:
The Inter- Collegiate Fencing (Men & Women ) Championship 2018-19 of the University of Jammu was inaugurated today at the Govt. General Zorawar Singh Memorial Degree College, Reasi with a colourful and impressive function, in which the teams from various colleges affiliated with the University of Jammu are participating .
The three day Championship will be held at the GGZSM Degree College ,Reasi.
Mr. Prasanna Ramaswamy(IAS) Deputy Commissioner, Reasi was the Chief Guest on the occasion, was introduced with the participants on his arrival at the venue of the competition.
In his address to the students and participants, Mr. Ramaswamy encouraged them to participate in the events whole heartily and with commitment for achieving good results. He also congratulated the college administration and staff for organising the Championship at the Reasi, which will give exposure to the players of the Reasi District.
Earlier Dr. S.P.Sarswat , Principal of the College in his welcome address presented a detailed report of the various activities to be undertaken by the college .Sh. Ajay Kumar, National Fencer & Assistant Professor of the college also shared his experiences on the occasion.
Sd. P.D. Singh from the University of Jammu and Sh. Kabla Singh , Vice – chairman Peace Foundation , J&K were the special guests on the occasion .
Prof . Suman Bala conducted the proceeding of the function and Dr. Prem Singh presented formal vote of thanks.
Others present include Dr. Chander Mohan , Dr. Rakesh Bharti, Dr. Surya Partap Singh, Sh. Rakesh Meenia , Ms Suman lata, Sh. Sanjay Verma , Sh. Omar Abdullah, staff and students of the GGZSM Degree College , Reasi.
Today, Foil Men Team Event was conducted .
In the first bout of the said event MIET Jammu team beat GDC Poonch team by 14-11 points .
In the second bout GGZSM degree College team beat GDC Udhampur by 15-2 points.
Ms. Rachana Jamwal , Mr. Ajay kumar , Ms. Shriya chib and Ravinder Kumar officiated the bouts.
