JAMMU, Apr 24:
After two-day boys’ competition, girls’ under-14 and under-17 meet of district Jammu got underway at Indoor Complex, MA Stadium, here under the banner of Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS).
The competition is being held in the disciplines of Badminton, Table Tennis, Chess, Carrom, Speedball and Kick Boxing.
Nearly 400 participants various schools of district Jammu are taking part in this two-day competition.
Accompanied by the District officer (DYSS), Chanchal Kour and other officials, the Director General, Dr Saleem-ur-Rehman witnessed the competition at the Indoor Complex.
CHESS: Under-14: Preliminary Round: APS Miran Sahib beat St. Xavier Barnai 3-1; Heritage Public School beat BSF Paloura 4-0; Model Academy beat shiksha Niketan 4-0;MHAC Nagbani beat Anuradha Mission 4-0.
CARROM:
Under-14: Quarterfinals: Singles: Sukrita of Anuradha Mission beat Himanaya of Model Academy; Vidhi of St Xavier beat Ritika Koul of BSF Paloura; Ambika of SOS Jammu beat Priya Devi of GHS Kanna Chak; Akriti of GMS Gorkha Nagar beat Jasjeet of Carmel Convent. Doubles: Carmel Convent beat St. Xavier; SOS Jammu beat DBN Amar Villa; Jammu Sanskriti beat Shiksha Niketan Jeevan Nagar; Gorkha Nagar beat GHS Kanachak.
KICK BOXING:

BADMINTON:
Meanwhile, GD Goenka won the boys under-17 final beating Army Public School (APS) Domana 2-0. Singles: Rakshit beat Sayam while Ojas and Vansh trounced Sayam and Abhinav 2-0 (21-06, 21-08).
