International Art Exhibition at Kala Kendra Concludes

An International Art Exhibition of Black & White Drawings and Prints, organized in the loving memory of Late (Smt.) Gobind Kaur, the 1st Contemporary Woman Sculptor of Jammu by ArtFort India, Chandigarh, Verman Cultural Celebrations, Jammu and Smd Foundation, Guwahati, concluded today at Master Sansar Chand Art Gallery of Kala Kendra, Jammu. A valedictory ceremony was conducted where renowned writer, poet, theatre & film personality Dr. Baljit Raina was the chief guest and Sh. O P Sharma, Director, J&K Centre for Creative Arts was the guest of honour. Sh. Jang S. vermin, Anil Saraf, Bikramjit Vicky and others were present on this occasion.
Speaking on this occasion, Dr. Baljit Raina said that Smt. Gobind Kaur is a big name in the field of sculpture. She has been the disciple of Late V R Khajuria, well known sculptor of the country, hailing from Jammu.
The Drawing & Print art works by different artists were displayed in the exhibition in various art techniques and mediums like Pen- n- Ink, water colour, pencil, charcoal, crayon drawings and NoPaint Images (an innovative technique) etc.
According to Jang S. Verman, the curator for the show, the exhibition is the 4th B&W show in its series organized by the organizers. The purpose to revive the mediums used by our ancestors in long tested visual expressions to express and share their views and emotions was given emphasis.
As a whole 38 works by the same number of artists were displayed in the show. The show curated by Jang S. Verman, a senior artist from Jammu projected the art pieces of Simone Noseda (Italy); Keziban Ertugrul Yildirim (Turkey); Monisa Saha (Bangladesh); Mintu Deka, Meenakshi Bargohain and Bandana Nath (Assam); Prabhinder Lall, Manmadha Rao, Neeti Joshi, Perminder Kaur and Pardeep Verma (Chandigarh); Raghu Neware, Vaishali Pakhale and Vandana Prihagya (Nagpur); Shyam Sharma (Ghaziabad); Sankari Mitra (Kolkata); Dr. Nisha Soni (Kota); Neelu Kanwaria (Jaipur); Nijeena Neelambaram (Kerala); Bharti Sharma and Nishi Nitya – new delhi (New Delhi); Dr. Suneet Madan (Mohali); Rashmita Kanojia (Ambala); Arvind Sharma (Karnal); Mukesh K. Zile Singh (Kaithal); Lee Za (Patiala); Riya Abrol (Chamba); Harpreet Kaur (Jalandhar) and Shivani Singla (Ludhiana), Senior artists Jang S Verman and Kamalnain Bhan as well as the young artists of J&K State viz. Renu Bala, Shivali Jamwal, Saurav Kumar, Payal Aggarwal, Vijay Singh and Bharati Rajput (Jammu). Earlier, Sh. Vijay saraf, renowned artist & former Principal, IMFA, Sh. Asraf and Dr. Alamdar Adam, Culrural Officer JKAACL, Rajouri- Poonch office paid a visit to the show among others. A number of visitors and art lovers had the round of the art exhibition during the day.
