The District Administration Samba observed the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking yesterday evening at Vijaypur, under the theme, “The evidence is clear: invest in prevention.”
The event featured insightful speeches on drug abuse and illicit trafficking, stressing the critical need for enhanced awareness, education, and proactive measures to prevent these issues. Cultural programs highlighted the community’s commitment to raising awareness.
Deputy Commissioner Abhishek Sharma applauded the dedicated efforts of artists from district Samba who actively participated in the fight against drugs.
He urged parents of youths struggling with addiction not to hesitate but to step forward and admit their children to Drug De-Addiction Centers. DC Sharma emphasized that in addition to the administration and police, artists can significantly contribute to the battle against drugs.
“Everyone must unite to combat this menace,” stated DC Sharma. He underscored that the administration is taking stringent measures, including attaching properties of individuals involved in drug activities. The event underscored the collective responsibility needed to address drug abuse and illicit trafficking, with DC Sharma urging all community members to join hands in this crucial fight.
SSP, Vinay Kumar, reiterated the commitment of the Samba police to completely eradicate drugs from the district. He commended the impactful performances by local artists that effectively conveyed the message against drug abuse. ”
The Samba police are fully committed to eliminating drugs from our district,” stated SSP Vinay Kumar.
He emphasized the pivotal role of community engagement and artistic expression in the fight against drugs.
On this occasion, a song trailer “SOORMA,” directed by local youth of Samba, was also released, aiming to eliminate the drug menace from society, especially from the Samba district.
As part of the day’s activities, a debate competition was held at the Conference Hall, DC Office Samba. A signature campaign, to mobilize public support against drug abuse and illicit trafficking, saw participants taking the Nasha Mukt pledge to support a drug-free society.
Among others, DMO Samba Mohammad Sayeed, DSWO Mohd Nawaz, DIO Ashiq Rafiq Malik, and other officers were also present on the occasion.c
