International Mother Language Day celebrated in Bandipora

BANDIPORA, FEB 21:
District Information Centre Bandipora on Sunday organised a poetic session to celebrate International Mother Language Day 2021 in collaboration with Literary Forum, Bandipora (LFB).
Renowned scholars, poets, columnists and students participated in the programme. Senior writer and poet, Saif Rampuri presided over the first session of the Mushaira while the second session was presided over by Mohammad Akbar Miskeen.
Speaking on the occasion, President LFB appreciated the efforts of the District Information Centre Bandipora for playing a key role in organizing literary activities in the district. He hoped that the department will continue to hold such literary events in future to provide a platform to the young poets and writers.
Earlier a day-long function was organised by Literary Forum Bandipora in collaboration with the District Information Centre and Cultural wing of the Department of Education, Bandipora to celebrate International Mother Tongue Day. Renowned scholars, poets, columnists and students participated in the programme.
Speakers highlighted the importance of mother tongue, especially Kashmiri, Gojri, Pahadi, Balti, Dard Sheena and other languages spoken in various parts of Jammu and Kashmir. They stressed on preservation of mother tongue that is akin to preservation of culture and ethnicity of a particular area.
On the occasion, students from different government schools presented cultural programmes in Kashmiri and Sheena language, staged folk dances and sung songs of different languages which enthralled the audience.
Noted Scholar Shahbaz Hakbari was chief guest on the occasion and delivered the presidential address while Sufi Showkat, Mir Tariq, GM Zahid and Ishfaq Ahmad Samoon presented research papers on the importance of Mother Language.
Tehildar Bandipora Mubashir Saleem Nazki, Zonal Education Officer Mohammad Sayeed Shah, Officials of District Information Centre, poets and students were present on the occasion.
