Chief Secretary Manoj Kumar Singh on behalf of ‘Invest UP’ and Carmelo Ezpeleta on behalf of Dorna Sports SL on Thursday signed an agreement for organising the MotoGP race in Uttar Pradesh.Terming the agreement as important for UP, the Chief Secretary said that big international investors are being attracted to the state due to the organisation of such competitions under the leadership of the Chief Minister. “Bringing MotoGP to UP will not only elevate our state to the global sports platform, but will also promote substantial economic development in tourism, hospitality and related sectors. The event will attract visitors from around the world, highlighting UP’s potential in hosting world-class sporting events,” he said.It may be noted that the agreement strengthens UP as the ultimate destination for major sporting events, guaranteeing annual hosting of the prestigious MotoGP race event from the year 2025. The MoU, administered by Invest UP, the premier investment promotion agency of the state, reflects UP’s unwavering commitment to promote sports and attract substantial investments.The UP government has also formed a high-level executive committee to oversee the entire MotoGP event. The committee will be chaired by the Chief Secretary and will have the CEOs of Noida, Greater Noida and Yamuna Expressway Authorities as its members.The District Magistrate of Gautam Buddh Nagar and the Chief Sports Officer of Dorna Sports will also be its members.An Organising Committee will also be formed to support the high-level executive committee. It will have representatives from industrial development authorities and local administrations as well as the Chief Sports Officer of Dorna Sports and some of the leading investors of the state.The thrilling MotoGP motorcycle race will be held at the Buddha International Circuit in Greater Noida, renowned for hosting world-class motor sports events. Through the strategic collaboration with Dorna, UP aims to seamlessly execute each MotoGP event, thereby strengthening its reputation as a global sporting hub.Invest UP has been instrumental in securing this agreement. By facilitating investments and boosting economic activity, Invest UP aims to give a boost to the economy of UP and create innumerable employment opportunities.
