JAMMU, Jan 15:
Ishaq Ahmed (Lallu) of Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP) lifted the 121st Annual Panthal Kesari Dangal title defeating Sachin of Sonipat in a neck to neck contest that lasted for 21 minutes at village Panthal in district Reasi.
Ishaq later adjudged best wrestler in this famous vishal dangal which was organizes by Shri Swami Nitya Nand Wrestling Association on the eve of Maker Sakranti under the overall supervision of Prittam Magotra and Mukesh Khajuria.
The winner of the title bout, Ishaq received a cash prize of Rs 12,000 while runners-up, Sachin got Rs 9,000.The DDC Councillor, Rajinder Kumar Mengi was the chief guest, who gave away the cash prizes. President J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association, Shiv Kumar Sharma presided over the function. Aditya Sangotra, (IAS) was the guest of honour.In total, Dangal 51 bouts decided in this day-long event which involved an expense of Rs 2,70,000. In second main bout, Ajay Sharma of Udhampur defeated Sonu of Sonipat. Winner Ajay got Rs 10,000 and Rs 8,000 cash prize presented to Sonu.
The third bout won by Babba of Kot-Bhalwal beating Vicky of Sonipat to receive Rs 7,000 and Rs 5,000 cash prize respectively. In fourth main bout, Muneer of Nagrota (Rs 6,000) defeated Ankush (Rs 4,000) of Panipat. The only women bout played in this event won by Poonam Phogat of Hissar (Haryana) who defeated Ansu of Chandigarh.The organisers also felicitated Aditya Sangotra son of Mastan Singh of Thati in Udhampur, who cleared the IAS examination. A retired Sub-Inspector of J&K Police, Rattan singh was also honoured for joining Wrestling Association (ISWA).Prominent among others present were Prithvi Raj Sharma, Ram Paul Sharma, naresh Kumar (Pappu lakri), Sarpanch Rajinder Thappa, Virender Sharma, Sarpanch Pawan Kumar, Sarpanch Suresh Mengi, Om Parkash Verma and Sat Paul Verma.
