Cast: Rhea Chakraborty, Varun Mitra, Digangana Suryavanshi
Director: Pushpdeep Bhardwaj
Rating: *1/2
Though there was not much expected from this Jalebi has disappointed us heavily. Despite being a Bhatt camp film it failed to gather any hype around it.
The title of the film is Jalebi- The everlasting taste of love… but as soon as the film begins you feel that you should have avoided this.
Jalebi is a story about Ayesha (Rhea Chakraborty) – Dev (Varun Mitra) and their not so bright love story. Ayesha is an aspiring young writer who is ambitious and wants to achieve everything in life.
On a trip to Delhi, she falls in love with her tour guide Dev and they get married. But things get worse as she realizes that she has made a mistake and get separated from her husband. Years later they meet again this time on a train and flashback.
A Bollywood story where everyone is confused and just trying hard to get to the end of the film.
There is not much in the story to explain. The performances of all the characters are so ordinary that you don’t feel connected. Varun Mitra has made debut with this film and he has tried a lot to prove his mettle. Rhea Chakraborty never looked convincing. Even in the emotional scenes, she failed to impress.
Generally, the music of Bhatt camp’s films is one thing which leaves everyone to spellbind but this time even music has let us down.
When there is a weak script, performances should overpower it but with Jalebi nothing goes in favour. Jalebi is an old wine even in the older packaging. There is nothing new in it.
So it’ll be good to avoid this stale and unsavoury Jalebi!
