Jammu Badminton meet gets underway

JAMMU, Feb 20:
The 35th Jammu District Badminton Championship, organised by the Jammu City and District Association, got underway today at Indoor Complex, MA Stadium, here today.Former Commissioner Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC), Kiran Wattal was chief guest, who interacted with the participants and witnessed a couple of preliminary round matches. He was received and welcomed by the vice president of Badminton Federation of India and chairman of JKBA, Dr O D Sharma in the presence of Col. D V Sharma (vice president), Anil Gaind (treasurer), Pintoo ji (president, Global Solace, Akshey Garoo, Sahil Pandita, Amit Dhar, Vijay Kumar, Anil Gurkha, Pawanjit, Vivek, Ashish Sharma and Rahul Sharma.Som Raj Gupta is organising secretary of the championship, who along with general secretary of the Association, Balbir Singh Jamwal conducted the event.
About 200 players have registered for this three-day championship. The opening day of the competition witnessed preliminary rounds.
