Flaying the union govt and the previous BJP-PDP alliance for delay and deny tactics over the deportation of Rohingyas and Bangladeshis from Jammu region amid brewing public anger, Mr. Harsh Dev Singh JKNPP Chairman and Former Minister today appealed the civil society, intellectuals and social organizations to come forward on a common plat form to get rid of the menace of illegal immigrants which posed a serious threat to the security of dogra land besides its identity and culture. While launching a scathing attack on BJP, Mr. Singh asked the central govt to come out with a concrete action plan to deport these unlawful foreign immigrants to their native countries without any further delay or else be prepared to face public fury. He was addressing a press conference in Jammu today.
While addressing the media, Mr. Harsh Dev Singh said that each time a demand was raised for their deportation; the Home Ministry came out with the stereotype reply that states had been asked to carry out their enumeration and collect biometric details.
He said last time the reply in Parliament by MHA had further given indications of involving external affairs Ministry also in the process and suggesting thereby that no action had been initiated till date to evict the illegally settled foreigners in the state. Describing the Rohingyas as the biggest threat to the communal harmony and composite culture of Jammu Pradesh, he said that their settlement in Jammu and provision of all facilities to them despite govt considering them as illegal immigrants was also a subject matter of probe. He said that despite their proven links with the militant outfits and their suspected role in terror attacks, the GoI besides erstwhile BJP partnered State govt had not responded to the alarming situation which had vitiated peace and caused public unrest in the entire region.
Despite several directives from the Ministry of Home Affairs, the BJP in the coalition remained dormant and turned a blind eye on the issue to please its Kashmir centric ally for the greed of power. With GoM constituted earlier by the previous govt to take measures for deportation of illegal foreigners turning defunct, another commission proposed by the saffron party which was supposed to be headed by a sitting High Court judge also remained elusive. Rebuking the reply of the GoI to the questions in the Parliament during the last session, Mr. Singh took jibe on Minister for Home Affairs Raj Nath Singh and MoS Home Affairs Kiran Rijiju for their stereotype answers.
“Why it was taking so much time by MHA to retrieve the information on the number of Rohingyas? When you will identify them and deport them to Myanmar? We all know that India is not a signatory to the UN convention on Refugees (UNCR). It’s also been accepted that J&K had the largest population of these ‘ticking time bombs’ in the country who have been involved in several illegal activities like narco smuggling, human trafficking, child abductions, sacrilegious acts and border crossing. Then what is the hitch in deporting them back? Don’t talk, just act”, Harsh questioned.
Accusing the Congress, BJP, NC, PDP of facilitating Rohingyas settlement in the State, Mr. Harsh Dev Singh further pointed out that previous saffron flavoured govt in the state was squarely responsible for providing civic amenities to them. He said that it was a bitter truth that the number of illegal foreign immigrants posing a demographic threat to Jammu region had soared under BJP rule with thousands of Rohingyas camping in Jammu and Samba districts. They had illegally raised fabricated slums at several congested colonies in Jammu city and managed to procure PRCs, Aadhar cards, Ration cards, free water connections under the tutelage of the previous dispensation. They were provided around 8000 electricity connections in their localities on a negligible tariff which was nearly ‘free’ as per the disclosures made in an RTI reply. Their children were seeking admissions in Govt. schools on the basis of fake documents while the local eligible children were divested of their legitimate rights. Moreover, they were enjoying the patronage of terror groups like JeM, HM and DeM, Harsh rued.

While asserting that their early deportation was the need of the hour, Mr. Harsh called upon the GoI to take up the matter on priority keeping the national interest in consideration. He cautioned the MHA to immediately act and deport the natives of Myanmar and Bangladesh from J&K at the earliest otherwise their soaring population here could prove catastrophic.

Mr. Parshotam Parihar State Secretary Panthers Trade Union was also present in the press conference.
