ECI establishes 109 special polling stations in Jammu PC
Jammu, April 26 :
The polling in the second phase of Lok Sabha elections in Jammu Constituency ended on a high note with the overall voter turnout recorded as 69 percent.
The voting process went underway in 2416 polling stations at 7 AM and culminated at 7 PM.
Across various assembly segments of the parliamentary constituency, voters, especially youth and first time voters, were seen standing in queues much ahead of the scheduled time for polling.
The Election Commission had put in place all necessary arrangements to ensure a fair and transparent electoral process.
As per the final official data,the constituency witnessed an overall polling percentage of 69.01.
Akhnoor (SC) recorded 74.03%, Bahu 62.34%, Bishnah (SC) 71.33%, Chhamb 71.06%, Gulabgarh (ST) 71.47%, Jammu East 66.11%, Jammu North 67.29%, Jammu West 62.82%, Kalakote Sunderbani 66.40%, Marh (SC) 73.00%, Nagrota 71.39%, RS Pura Jammu South 68.11%, Ramgarh (SC) 69.76%, Reasi 71.65%, Samba 69.23% Shri Mata Vaishno Devi 74.65%, Suchetgarh (SC) 63.49 and Vijaypur 75.67% on the culmination of the voting. The Jammu-Reasi Parliamentary Constituency recorded 57.76 percent turnout till 3 pm with highest 65.78 percent in Akhnoor segment.
As per the official figures, Akhnoor (SC) recorded 65.78 percent, Bahu 49.31 percent, Bishnah (SC) 59.85 percent, Chhamb 60.19 percent, Gulabgarh (ST) 63.07 percent, Jammu East 53.33 percent, Jammu North 51.99 percent, Jammu West 50.17 percent, Kalakote – Sunderbani 59.39 percent, Marh (SC) 60.71 percent, Nagrota 61.76 percent, R S Pura – Jammu South 52.37 percent, Ramgarh (SC) 58.95 percent, Reasi 64.19 percent, Samba 61.36 percent, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi 64.77 percent, Suchetgarh (SC) 55.70 percent and Vijaypur 56.39 percent.
Long queues of voters, especially the women and first time voters, attired in traditional outfits, were seen thronging to their nearest polling stations.
Earlier in the morning, the polling began with enthusiasm, especially among the new voters.

Mock poll was also conducted successfully in all the polling stations.

More than 17.80 lakh voters on the Jammu Parliamentary seat will decide the fate of 22 candidates, who are in the fray.
The border residents to play a key role as the constituency will witness direct fight between the Congress and the BJP candidates.
Out of the 18 Assembly segments of Jammu constituency, nine segments have votes in border areas, both on IB and LoC including Ramgarh and Samba Assembly segments of Samba district, Bishnah, Suchetgarh, Ranbir Singh Pura, Marh, Akhnoor and Chammb of district Jammu and Sunderbani-Kalakote Assembly segment of Rajouri district.
17,80,835 lakh voters including 9,21,095 male and 8,59,712 female voters besides 28 third gender electorates are eligible to vote for this seat.
In a first of its kind move towards inclusivity and environmental consciousness, the Election Commission of India (ECI) established 109 remarkable polling stations of different categories for voters in Jammu Parliamentary Constituency (PC) which went for polling today in the second phase of General Elections to Lok Sabha 2024.
These innovative polling stations viz; women manned, youth manned, PwD manned, Green Polling Stations, Border Polling Stations and Unique Polling Stations were designed to cater specifically to women, youth, Persons with Disabilities (PwDs), promote eco-friendly practices and cater to voters of different kind in the region.
The polling stations were established under specific themes in all four districts of Jammu Parliamentary Constituency.
In Jammu district, three Women manned, three PwD manned, two youth manned, four green, fifty border and three unique polling stations were established. Similarly, three women manned, three PwD manned, three youth manned, three green, twelve border and two unique polling stations were established for ease of voters in Samba district.
Likewise, in Reasi district, three women manned, three PwD manned, three youth manned, four green and one unique polling station was established.
In Rajouri (Sunderbani-Kalakote) district, one Women manned, one PWD manned, one youth manned and one green polling station was established.
The newly established polling stations aim to revolutionize the electoral process by ensuring accessibility and representation for all segments of society. With a special focus on women, youth, and PWD, these stations had been equipped with amenities tailored to meet their unique needs, fostering an environment conducive to active participation in the democratic process.
