JAMMU, Feb 19:
Jammu district men and Jammu Red women claimed the title trophies in the IV State Handball Championship held under the banner of J&K Handball Association at MA Stadium, here today.
In the men’s final, Jammu district trounced the young side of STC Jammu 31-16 by a comfortable margin. Rahul remained top scorer from winning side of Jammu with 11 goals to his credit.
Similarly, in women’s title clash, Jammu Red defeated district Udhampur 19-03 making it a one-sided contest.
Kashish Baru played fine game for the Jammu Red netting nine goals.
The finals were officiated by the technical penal comprising Gaurav Sharma, Vikram Dogra, Chander Shekhar, Bhawna and Kartar Dogra.
In the finals and prize distribution function Member Legislative Assembly (MLA), Sat Sharma was chief guest, who gave away the title trophies as also other individuals prizes and medals.
President of the J&K Handball Association, SM Bali and former India Handball captain, SP Ranjit Singh, Krishan Lal, Mohammaed Ashraf Parry were among other distinguished gathering.
Earlier, general secretary of the Association, Ashwani Kumar Raina welcomed the distinguished guests and presented a brief note on the championship.
