SAMBA, Sept 22:
Jammu district clinched both boys and girls’ titles in the inter-district divisional level Super Seven Cricket, organised by the Department of Youth Services and Sports as part of annual activities at Sports Stadium, here today.
In boys final, Jammu defeated district Kathua by five wickets. Batting first, Kathua set a target of 59 runs for five wickets in six-over a side game. Naresh and Shuvam contributed 11 and nine runs respectively. From Jammu, Arayan claimed two wickets in the six over he bowled.
In reply, Jammu achieved the target of 59 runs in the last delivery of the final over with five wickets in hand. It was Shubam, who helped the side clinch the almost lost game with his nine-ball 29 runs.
Earlier, in the semifinals, Kathua defeated hosts Samba district by 12 runs. Batting first, Kathua scored 91 runs which in reply Samba could not chase and exhausted the quota of overs for 79 runs for five wickets.
In other semifinal of the day, Jammu outplayed district Poonch by six wickets.
Meanwhile, the girls’ under-19 title also won by Jammu district beating hosts Samba by six wickets. The technical penal in today’s matches included Chander parkesh, Dhanraj Singh, Sandeep Singh, Daljeet Singh, Amit, Rakesh Charak and Deeraj Jamwal.
