Jammu, july 28:
Jammu Institute of Ayurveda and Research (JIAR) observed World Hepatitis Day on July 28, aligning with this year’s theme, “Let’s Break It Down.” The event aimed to raise global awareness about hepatitis and the urgent need to eliminate the barriers—financial, social, and systemic—that hinder progress in combating the disease and preventing liver cancer.
As part of the observance, second-year BAMS students delivered PowerPoint and E-poster presentations, shedding light on the importance of early detection, treatment, and public education. Their efforts highlighted how stigma and lack of access to care continue to impede the fight against hepatitis, and emphasized the necessity of unified global action.
The event was organized by Dr. Punam Kumari, Assistant Professor, Department of Rasashastra and Bhaishajya Kalpana, JIAR. In her address, Dr. Kumari stressed the need to expand access, integrate care, and work collectively to eliminate hepatitis as a public health threat by 2030, in line with WHO’s global health targets.
The observance served as a reminder that the time to act is now—to break down barriers and build a future free from hepatitis.
