Jammu, Nov 02: Jammu Joint Students Federation (JJSF) held their working committee meeting at Jammu today. The meeting was attended by the state office bearers and representatives of various colleges and Universities. The meeting was chaired by Atul Sudan and Dakhseesh Sharma (State Vice Presidents JJSF). The major issue which was discussed in the meeting was shifting of J&K High Court from Janipur to Raika forest area near Sidhra. JJSF leaders expressed their serious concern regarding rapid cutting of forests in J&K.
Addressing the gathering Dakhseesh Sharma (State Vice President JJSF) said that already when High Court complex was constructed in Janipur area of Jammu hundreds of kanals of forest area was evicted and thousands of trees were cut and now again the government is going to repeat same as they are shifting Jammu Kashmir High Court Complex to Raika forest area near Sidhra. He said government is having proposal of evicting around 200 Kanals of forest area in Raika forest Area which means thousands of trees will be cut again. He said the speed with which the forests of Jammu Kashmir are been cut is very serious concern and administration should think once again regarding their proposal.
Further addressing the gathering Atul Sudan (State Vice President JJSF) said that we have live example of Delhi in front of us but still administration and Government is sleeping and is stepping ahead to make another Delhi like atmosphere here in Jammu. He alleges that government is exploiting forest recourses lavishly. He said that each time a new project is to be started government is targeting the green forests of Jammu which is very dangerous. He said that this kind of steps of government will increase global warming in Jammu and will also lead to soil and hills erosion. He said that there is already a well established High Court Complex in Jammu with all kind of facilities and full fledge infrastructure for which already thousands of trees were cut. He said that the issue raised by Jammu and Kashmir High Court Bar Association is genuine which will save green gold of Jammu (forests).
After the meeting a unanimous decision was taken by JJSF leadership with prior approval of Adv.Pushvinder Singh Manhas (State President JJSF) that JJSF will support the genuine issue of JKHCBAJ to save Jammu forests. They appealed lieutenant Governor to reconsider the decision of shifting the High Court Complex from Janipur to Raika forest area of Sidhra.
