JJSF ends its 3 days’ fast after performing Havana and purna Ahuti

Jammu Joint Students’ Federation (JJSF) today paid their tributes to the student martyrs of 1966, who had sacrificed their lives for the Jammu cause and performed Havana for the peace of the departed souls.
A number of JJSF volunteers, led by Pushvinder Singh, President JJSF paid floral tributes to the student martyrs of 1966 and then performed Havana at Shaheedi Sthal, GGM Science College. JJSF volunteers also distributed Halwa Prasaad on the occasion.
Pushvinder Singh also administered a pledge to the students for a continuous struggle to get justice for Jammu region and asked them follow the path shown by these student martyrs. While addressing the media persons Pushvinder said that in 1966, the then government tried to shift the Agriculture College from Jammu to Kashmir (Sopore) and the students of GGM Science college started the agitation against this move of the govt.
During the agitation, 4 students namely S. Gurcharan Singh, Gulshan Handa, Brij Mohan and Subash Chander were martyred when police opened fire on the agitating students, he told.
He said that JJSF is observing 16th, 17th and 18th October as Student Martyrs’ days every year and four activists of JJSF sit on fast for three days on 16th of October and ends fast on 18th of October after performing Havana at Shaheedi Sthal, GGM Science College.
Today after performing Havana, halwa Prasad was distributed and juice was offered to the fasting students by Dr. D N Mehta, one of the protesters of 1966 and Kuljeet Singh Jamwal, Ex-Chairman, JJSF.
