Alleging politicization of bureaucracy in J&K, Mr. Harsh Dev Singh JKNP Chairman and former Minister said that the J&K administration was being used and abused by the BJP for furtherance of its political prospects and to bog down the opposition parties that attempted to expose its misdeeds. He said that a culture of quid pro quo had emerged in J&K where BJP was favouring the bureaucrats with prized postings and the latter helping out the former in its political diversification. It has been established beyond the doubt that the bureaucracy in general has been lending its shoulder to BJP leaders to fire their guns from. The instances of such condescendence on the part of BJP and the present administration are too many to recount. And each outdoes the other in brazen bias and prejudice. He was addressing a press conference in Jammu today.
Pointing towards the illegal occupation of govt accommodation and Ministerial bungalows by the BJP leaders and refusal of the administration to evict them despite categoric orders of the High Court only several the extent to which the present bureaucrats could go in their sycophancy of the saffron leaders. “And while the opposition leaders and even the heads of other recognized political parties were thrown out of the estates quarters with the use of police force, the encroacher leaders of BJP continue to be retained in the said bunglows besides provision of free furniture, fixtures and other amenities therein at public expense. Not only that a plethora a security personnel and fleets of got vehicles were kept at the disposal of such BJP leaders while withdrawing even the basic minimum security to opposition leaders”, asserted Mr. Singh.
Further in the recently hold elections of DDCs and even BDCs, several elected candidates crossed floor and defected to BJP and its allies in violation of the spirit of anti defection law.
The govt functionaries however failed to act in view of BJP’s pressure and did not even hesitate to defy the said law in their desperation to please their political masters. Several officers have been openly seen promoting the political philosophy of BJP with none to take note despite several representations made against them. The employees having proximity to BJP leaders are being given plum postings while the ‘inconvenients’ are made to suffer at difficult locations for years. Several backdoor appointments have been made at the behest of BJP leaders with none to take action against such illegal appointees or their political sponsors despite having been exposed. Then there are officers who have been asking the people to approach them through BJP leaders in view of the favours conferred upon them by the BJP’s proxy rulers in J&K. Not only the civil but police administration is being abused by such BJP leaders for promotion of their petty personal and political interests,” asserted Mr. Singh.
Pointing towards the physical assaults on several NPP workers including females by ruling party leaders during recent elections, Mr. Singh regretted that no cognizance was taken by the biased police despite repeated complaints due to pressure mounted by BJP leaders. Only last week the bolero vehicle of a Panthers Party worker was torched by the goons of saffron party but the Udhampur police enlarged the culprits on bail resulting in massive resentment against the biased officers. Further there have several extra judicial executions of NPP workers by the police. Several innocent workers of Panthers Party were framed in frivolous cases while granting immunity to the criminals owing allegiance to BJP. It was shocking that these officers had shun even the pretence of impartiality and were openly supporting, sheltering and promoting the BJP leaders in J&K.
Asserting that bias against opposition was antithetical to democracy, Mr. Singh remarked that such instances sadly bore the stink of demise of responsible administration. And lying forlorn on the wayside was the basic tenet that law was equal for all”, bemoaned Mr. Singh. He questioned if any of the so called champions of democracy would intervene?
Mr. Rajesh Padgotra senior leader JKNPP, Mr. Parshotam Parihar (State Secretary-JKNPP), Mr. Khajoor Singh and Mr. Gurdeep Singh were also present in the press conference.
