The BJP on Sunday released its sixth list of candidates for the upcoming Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections.
The BJP fielded Bharat Bhushan from Kathua, Rajeev Bhagat from Bishnah and Surinder Bhagat
J&K: BJP releases
from Marh. The BJP announced Ghulam Muhamed Mir as the candidate from Handwara. Mir will face Jammu and Kashmir People’s Conference Chief Sajjad Lone, whom the BJP had supported in Baramulla during the Lok Sabha polls.
Naseer Ahmad Lone will contest from Bandipora, while R S Pathania has been named for Udhampur East by the BJP.
Mohammed Idrees Karnahi, Abdul Rashid Khan, and Faqir Mohammad Khan will contest from Karnah, Sonawari, and Gurez, respectively.
The BJP has dropped senior leader and former Deputy Chief Minister Kavinder Gupta from his Gandhi Nagar seat in the latest list of 10 candidates.
Vikram Randhawa has been fielded instead of Gupta from Gandhi Nagar, which is now known as Bahu after delimitation.
Polling in Jammu and Kashmir is scheduled for September 18, 25, and October 1, with the counting of votes on October 8.
On Friday, BJP Union home minister Amit Shah unveiled the party’s manifesto during his two-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir.
There are 11 Assembly constituencies in the Jammu region considered as an important to the BJP, which had previously won nine of these seats in the 2014 elections, contributing significantly to its total of 25 seats.
