The J&K Contractors Coordination Committee (JKCCC), led by Chairman Ghulam Jeelani Purza, along with General Secretary Tariq Ahmad Baba, Advisor Mohammad Shafi Bhat, Spokesman Mohammad Amin Raina, and members Dr. Mohammad Rafiq, Irshad Ahmad Bhat, and Maqsood Ahmad, convened today with the J&K Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) President and newly elected Assembly Member from the Central Shalteng constituency, Mr. Tariq Hameed Karra. The meeting aimed to extend congratulations on the successful formation of the NC-Congress government under Chief Minister Omar Abdullah.
During the meeting, JKCCC Chairman Purza raised several long-standing issues affecting contractors in the region. Key issues highlighted included: Pending Payments: Contractors are still awaiting payments from the previous BJP-PDP government (2014-2018), which has significantly impacted their operations., Card Renewals: Many contractors are struggling with delays in renewing necessary credentials, hampering their ability to secure new contracts., Raw Material Shortages: Ongoing shortages of essential construction materials have led to project delays and increased costs., Other Challenges: Various other obstacles that have persisted over the years were also discussed, highlighting the need for immediate action.
In response, JKPCC Chief Tariq Hameed Karra assured the contractor community that their concerns would be taken seriously and addressed with the alliance partners. He stated, “I have already highlighted these issues to the government, and I assure you that your genuine demands will be addressed very soon.”
JKCCC Chairman Ghulam Jeelani Purza expressed confidence in Tariq Karra’s leadership, stating, “We have already worked together when you served as the Finance Minister of J&K. Your visionary approach and commitment to development have greatly benefited the welfare of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.”
The meeting underscored the importance of collaboration between the government and contractors, with a focus on fostering positive development and cooperation. Karra reiterated his commitment to supporting the contractor community, acknowledging their significant role in the region’s economic growth.
The J&K Contractors Coordination Committee looks forward to a productive partnership with the new government, aiming to ensure that their issues are effectively addressed and to foster an environment conducive to growth and development in Jammu and Kashmir.
