With haul of medals to their kitty, junior female gymnasts of Jammu and Kashmir brought laurels to the state bringing home the team championships in Sub-Junior and Junior categories in the just concluded two-day National Rhythmic Gymnastics at Mohali in Punjab.
The winning state gymnasts clinched record 23 medals, including seven Gold, 11 Silver and five Bronze in various individual and team events they contested in the national level competition.
The state gymnastics team, comprised of Bavleen Kour, Tawishi Singh, Sneha Dewan and Yaadavi Mahajan, clinched team championship in Junior category. Delhi remained second while Maharashtra stood third on the victory box.
Meanwhile, in Senior category, Bavleen Kour bagged two Gold in team and individual apparatus finals of Hoop; three Silver medals in Ribbon, Ball and Individual All rounds and a Bronze in Clubs event. Tawishi too performed well and got another Individual All around Bronze for the state.
Similarly, in Sub Juniors (Under 10 yrs) age group, Muskan Rana declared Individual All round best Gymnast afters she claimed four Silver medals in Free Hand, Ball, Clubs and Team. Himani Gupta won a Gold in Rope event and two Silvers in Hoop and team Championships. Jagriti Thakur secured two Silver in Team and Ribbon and a Bronze in Free Hand. Bhavya Khanna won a Silver in Team and Bronze in Rope event.
In under-eight years category, Vaibhavi Sharma and Ayman Tak, Shrenya and Samreen Kour won Silver medal in Team championships. Vaibhavi was declared All Round Best Gymnast after she secured three individual Gold medals. Ayman Tak also won a Silver in Hoop event.
The team has been able to bring laurels to the state under the guidance and coaching of J&K State Sports Council’s coaches, who have been working to train these gymnasts at Indoor Sports Complex, MA Stadium, here.
