J&K out of contest after 0-7 defeat in league tie

Jammu and Kashmir today played so badly in their second group tie against Maghalaya, who sent the hosts packed in the league round itself in the ongoing 64th National School Games Under-17 Football, organised by the Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) at different venues, here. Earlier, in their first outing, after getting bye, lost to Kerela 0-3. J&K played both their matches on an isolated venue of Sainik School Nagrota.
Meanwhile, the third day of the competition witnessed teams qualifying for the knock-out stages of pre-quarterfinals with two top teams from the eight different groups finding berth in the last 16 stages of the competition.
Now, in the four pre-quarterfinals decided in the evening session, Chandigarh, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab and Bengal won their respective matches to reach the last eight stages. The remaining pre-quarterfinals have been scheduled for tomorrow. The Results: Pre-quarterfinals: Chandigarh bt Tripura 3-2 via tie-breaker (earlier 2-2 draw); Madhya Pradesh bt Odisha 1-0; Bihar bt Punjab 1-0; Bengal bt Chhattisgarh 1-0. League Round: Meghalaya beat Jammu & Kashmir 7-0; Maharashtra beat Delhi 2-1; Bihar beat IBSO 3-0; Andaman beat IPSC 3-2; Jharkhand beat Puducherry 5 -0; CISCE drew Karnatka 0-0; Chandigarh beat Madhya Pradesh 1-0; West Bengal beat Uttrakhand 1-0; Punjab beat NVS 11-0; Utter Pradesh beat Andra Pradesh 3 -0.
