Srinagar, Mar 26 :
The Jammu and Kashmir police have cracked the Srinagar attack case in which two CRPF men were martyred and two injured after terrorists opened indiscriminate fire at a road opening party in the Lawaypora area.
Speaking to media on the sidelines of the wreath-laying ceremony, Inspector General of Police Kashmir range Vijay Kumar said that two over ground workers (terror associates) have been held during an overnight operation in Srinagar and Bandipora districts of Kashmir and a Maruti car used for the crime has also been seized.
“Police worked overnight, we arrested Muzaffar Ahmed Mir, a relative of a local Lashkar-e-Toiba commander and Javaid Ahmed Sheikh for providing logistic support to Nadeem Abrar alias Abu Brar, a resident of Narbal, Budgam,” the IGP said adding that they had conducted a recce of the area on March 24.
The duo according to police has confessed to the crime and based on that raids were carried out at two hideouts. “Nadeem and two foreign terrorists are involved and are on the run,” Vijay said.
The highways in Kashmir have been frequently targeted in the valley and have been a cause of concern for the forces in the union territory. The upcoming Amarnath pilgrimage will be a challenge for the forces because it passes through the highway.
Asked about the security of Amarnath yatra, he said any loopholes will be plugged in and before the start of Amarnath yatra, the group will be neutralized.
IG CRPF Srinagar Sector Charu Sinha while referring to the Lawaypora incident quoted a proverb that “If you dance with the devil, remember that it is he who calls the tune. I leave it to the people of Kashmir to choose between harmony and violence.”
