Jammu, Sep 18 :

Bharatiya Janata Party candidate from Kishtwar, Shagun Parihar, on Wednesday alleged that she was heckled by workers of the National Conference and the Peoples Democratic Party at Mohalla Bagwan polling booth in Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir.
Kishtwar is among seven districts where voting was held in the first phase of Jammu and Kashmir Assembly Election.
“I was taunted at by the NC-PDP workers that I am playing the victim card and trying to gain sympathy in the election,” Shagun Parihar told the media, adding that she shot back at them that she was made a victim by them.
“They heckled me and misbehaved with me. The NC-PDP workers said that they will teach me a lesson,” she said.
Former minister and BJP candidate from Padder-Nagseni Assembly Constituency Sunil Sharma termed the incident unfortunate and said, “They want to hijack the election being held in free and fair manner. They are frustrated on seeing the tight security arrangements.”
“It is unfortunate that they misbehaved with our sister. PDP has no existence and such people should not be in politics,” said Sharma.
He, however, said that they will register a complaint seeking action against those who misbehaved with Shagun Parihar.
Notably, Shagun Parihar’s father Ajit Parihar and uncle Anil Parihar, who were associated with the BJP’s Kishtwar unit were gunned down by alleged terrorists in 2018 ahead of the panchayat polls.
