J&K Punjabi Sahit Sangam (PSS), Jammu organized a literary programme at K L Saigal Hall, Cultural Academy, Jammu today to honour six writers, actors, artists and musicians during the programme.
Dr. Arvinder Singh Amn, Additional secretary, J&K Academy of Art, Culture & Languages was the chief guest whereas Prof. Nirmal Vinod, well known Hindi, Punjabi and Dogri writer presided over the function. Dr. Raj Kumar Sharma, a well known Hindi writer was the guest of honour during ist session and Darbari Lal Kaswalia, Karan Singh Talib, Joginder Singh Shan Kashmiri were the dignitaries present on the presidium during second session. S. Rajpaul Mastana, President, Punjabi Lekhak Sabha, Jammu and Dr. Baljeet Singh Raina also shared the dais.
A short story reading session and Punjabi Kavi Darbar was conducted during the programme. Punjabi Short story writers Ichhupal Singh, Jang S. Verman, Dr. Baljeet Singh Raina and Karan Singh, Talib (Baramulla) recited their latest stories. Amarjeet Kaur Neer, Samsher Singh Chuahalvi,
Kewalpal Singh Kewal, Suraj Singh Suraj, Chanchal Dogra, Devinder Singh Dhanjal, Pritam Singh Anjaan, Pyasa Anjum, M S Kamra, Piara Singh Dhanjal, Ichhupal Singh, Sapna Sini, Bachan Bharti, K K Shakir, Prof. Nirmal Vinod, Amar Singh Kuka and Dr. Baljeet Singh Raina presented their poetry in Punjabi Kavi Durbar. Mohan Singh Nirala recited his poetry from Australia, through mobile.
A good number of poets, writers, musicians, artists and theatre personalities attended the felicitation- cum- literary event.
The personalities who were felicitated during the function for their contribution and achievements in their respective fields, were Tejinder Singh Premee, Punjabi Stage Director, Jang S. Verman, senior artist, writer and journalist, Amarjeet Kaur, actor, Surinder Goel, actor, producer and director, Shamsher Singh Ckaulvi, a Punjabi writer and T R Premi, Punjabi singer.
Speaking on this occasion Prof. Nirmal Vinod, Dr. Raj Kumar Sharma, Darbari Lal Kaswalia, Karan Singh Talib, Joginder Singh Shan Kashmiri appreciated the efforts of Punjabi Sahit Sangam, Jammu for organizing such literary programmes and honouring the achiever in various fields of Punjabi culture.
They opined that with the honours of the personalities, they are bound to assure better contribution in their respective fields. `Earlier, Rajpaul Singh Mastana, President welcomed the guests and gave the details of the programme. The proceedings of the programme were conducted by Dr. Baljeet Singh Raina. S. Ichhupal Singh extended the vote of thanks.
