JAMMU, Dec 25:
In this Championship Abhijeet Singh clinched Gold Medal in Senior 18+ yrs Male Kumite -75kg category defeating participants from Badgam, Gandebal,Jammu district respectively.
Not only this he also represented India in 9th Commonwealth Karate Championship which was held at Durban,South Africa in November,2018. He was also appreciated and awarded by Dr.Naseem Javaid Choudhary, Secretary of J&K State Sports Council.
The championship was organized by Amateur Karate Do Association of Jammu & Kashmir recognized by J&K State Sports Council affiliated to Karate Association of India (KAI) recognized by Govt. of India (Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports) member World Karate Federation (WKF) & Asian Karate Do Federation (AKF) recognized by International Olympic Committee (IOC). More than 600 participants from different districts viz Jammu, Rajouri, Kathua, Reasi, Srinagar, Ganderbal, Budgam, Bandipora, Kupwara, Udhampur, Kargil, Kishtwar, Doda, Shopian, Samba participated in the tournament.
Sh. Chander Mohan Gupta, Hon’ble Mayor JMC was the Chief Guest, Dr. S.M. Bali, Joint Secretary Indian Olympic Association (IOA) was the Guest of Honour of the closing Ceremony. Mr. Nazir Ahmad Bhat, Vice President AKAJK/ Organizing President of the tournament, Sh. Anil Gupta, Chairman AKAJK, Sh. Rahil Gupta, Vice President AKAJK, Mr. Vishal Sharma, President Jammu District Karate Association/ Organizing Secretary of the tournament, Sh. Tilak Raj Gupta, Lecturer Physical Education, Mr. Ajeet Upadhyay & Mr. Aman Sharma Social Activists were the other guests present on the occasion.
Mr. Ambedkar Gupta, National Karate Team Coach was also present on the Occasion.
Dr. S.M. Bali, Joint Secretary Indian Olympic Association (IOA), Guest of Honour also appreciated the efforts done by Mr. Ambedkar Gupta and his team to promote karate genuinely in the state. He also appreciated the efforts of Mr. Abhijeet Singh and congratulated him for his wonderful success and wished him a bright future ahead.
