J&K T20 team creates history, tops in North Zone

JAMMU: Jammu and Kashmir today created history when the state Twenty20 cricket topped in the North Zone of Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 National Tournament. The zonal level competition concluded today in Himachal Pradesh.

In fact, J&K shared same 12 points with Delhi. However, the side has lost to Delhi in the competition. Earlier, J&K defeated the tough sides like Punjab, Haryana and hosts Himachal Pradesh to emerge zone toppers.

Meanwhile, the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) has lauded the team and the support staff for this land mark achievement. “Umar Nazir, Shubham Khajuria, Ram Dayal, Manzoor Ahmad Dar performed consistently that helped the team to achieve the distinction of toping the North Zone in the Syed Mushtaq Ali T-20 National tournament. The team has managed this distinction despite many odds,” said general secretary of the JKCA, Iqbal Shah.

Adding he said, “The performance strengthens our hope that the team has potential to repeat the performance in the coming One Day National tournament and its future events. The association is committed to provide better facilities and desired infrastructure to the cricketers for achieving excellence in cricket.
