JAMMU, Jan 19:
Organised by the Jammu and Kashmir Taekwondo Association (JKTA), the 23rd J&K UT Taekwondo Championship shall start tomorrow at Indoor Complex, Bhagwati Nagar, here.
Athletes from 16 districts will be participating in the championship. To avoid the congestion while registration, the technical committee shall be using the spot based entry system.
The championship will be held using the modern PSS scoring system, again, one of its kind in the whole UT.
“It gives me immense pleasure to announce that this championship is being organised amidst improving Codiv-19 situation following the laid down norms and guidelines. I hope all the athletes will participate with full fervour,” said president of JKTA, DN Pangotra.
Prior to the competition, the Association held the COVID-19 screening of all the participants, their coaches and those officials so as to adhere SOPs of the Health Department. The excitement among all the athletes to return to the competitive atmosphere was clearly visible as the championship is being held after a long of 10-month due to the lockdown and Covid scare. Earlier, during the day, the organising committee conducted weigh-in of all the eligible participants.
