A book titled ‘Baba Mai Mal’ of Dogri Play written by O P Shakir was released by Jammu and Kashmir Centre for Creative Arts (JKCCA), Jammu in a function at Harsh Niketan Higher Secondary School, Sunderbani (Rajouri). Sh. Gurmukh Singh, ADC, Sunderbani was the Chief Guest on this occasion. Sh. K K Dutta, veteran writer presided over the function. Sh. Subhash Chander Sharma, ZEO, Sunderbani and Sh. Deep Kumar Sharma, Principal Govt. Girls Hr. Sec. School, Sunderbani were the guests of Honour. A composite Mushaira was also conducted on this occasion. Well known Hindi, Urdu, Punjabi and Dogri poets read out their poetry in the Mushaira.
Speaking on this occasion the chief guest appreciated JKCCA for choosing Sunderbani to release the book and hold Mushaira.
He said that there is need to preserve our culture and traditions. He advised the young people to use their mother tongue in their daily life to preserve and promote it.
Earlier, welcoming the guests Sh. O P Sharma, Director JKCCA highlighted the activities undertaken by JKCCA in the past. He said that the centre is extending whole hearted support to the artists, performers and literary people and organizing art and culture events at state, national and international level.
The poets who participated in the Mushaira were Dr. Baljeet Singh Raina, O P Shakir, Kavi Krishan Kewal, Jang S. Verman, Anila Singh Charak, Ratan Bhardwaj, Gurjeet Singh, Harpal Singh, Sanjeev Khajuria, Sumit Sudan, Veer Singh, Joginder Pal Sharma, K K Dutta, Neeru Kanta, Mulakh Raj Sharma, Meetali Sharma and Navjot Kaur.
The proceedings of the programme were conducted by Sumit Sudan and Joginder Pal Sharma.
