JAMMU, JUN 04:
Shocked over the fresh spate of mortar shelling by Pakistan in the forward villages of R.S Pura and Akhnoor sectors after a brief lull in which two BSF Jawans were martyred and 16 people got injured, scores of Panther activists led by Mr. Harsh Dev Singh Chairman JKNPP and other leaders staged a vociferous protest demonstration at Exhibition Ground today. The angry protesters while raising anti-BJP slogans took a jibe at both the central and the state government for failing to handle the border crisis and uphold their promise of 5 Marla plots to the border residents at safer zones which had forced them to migrate to open places.
Strongly condemning the spurt in violence both in the valley and on the borders following the declaration of the suspension of combat operations in J&K by the GoI, Mr. Harsh Dev Singh urged upon the Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi to revoke the decision of unilateral ceasefire with immediate effect otherwise the situation would go out of hands and further exacerbate inviting massive death and destruction. He said that in the wake of Pak sponsored militants attacking security personnel and stone pelters going berserk in the valley, Pakistan had been opening unprovoked fire and pounding Indian posts and forward hamlets all along the IB and LoC in Samba, Kathua, R.S Pura, Akhnoor, Poonch and Rajouri sectors leading to panic and killings of several soldiers and civilians. He said that the militants as well as belligerent neighbor had proved that terrorism had no religion. “Non Initiation of Combat Operations (NICO) had seriously demoralized the Army which might prove counterproductive and provide an opportunity to the terrorists to regroup and plan further mayhem in the State”, agitated Harsh said.
Prominent among those who spoke on the occasion included Rajesh Padgotra, Gagan Partap Singh, Sham Gorkha, Khajoor Singh, K.K Sharma, Rajesh Gondhi, Rashpaul Singh, Shankaar Singh Sanju, Ashok Chouhan, Rakesh Verma, Jeevan Sharma besides others.
