Jammu, Nov, 04:
Expressing deep concern over the huge delay in the release of 2006 Class IV selection list of Udhampur & Reasi District , Mr. Balwant Singh Mankotia State President JKNPP & Former MLA along with scores of aggrieved candidates staged a strong protest demonstration at Exhibition Ground in Jammu today. While having scuffle with the police, the infuriated protesters along with the Panther leaders started marching towards the Civil Secretariat but the police raised huge barricades at Dogra Chowk and restrained them from advancing further.
Addressing the media, Mr. Balwant Singh Mankotia accused the successive governments and BJP in particular for putting the career of the candidates belonging to Udhampur and Reasi districts in jeopardy. He revealed that while the Class IV selection lists of all the other districts had been released, the candidates from the said districts were left in lurch despite conduction of interview several times for the same post. “It is a sheer tragedy that candidates of other districts were absorbed in government jobs who had been in services for the last 13 years while the aggrieved candidates of Udhampur and Reasi districts were running from pillar to post for their rights. They have been subjected to obnoxious discrimination”, he said.
Expressing anguish over the plight of the aggrieved candidates, Mr. Mankotia regretted that when a deputation approached GAD of late, the department disclosed that the selection lists of the said districts were withheld on the directions of the Honble Supreme Court. He wondered if the matter was sub-judice, then how were the candidates of other districts appointed on the posts. ” Earlier ,we had taken up the matter with the Ex-Governor Satyapal Malik,Ex-Advisor Farooq Khan and DC Udhampur but all the efforts proved futile. Many of the aggrieved candidates have become over aged and their families have been facing starvation and other miseries. Others are languishing on roads for their genuine demands”, rued Mankotia.
Mr. Mankotia warned the J&K administration of dire consequences if 2006 Class IV selection lists of Udhampur and Reasi districts were not released at the earliest. ” Panther Party shall launch a massive agitation if the aggrieved candidates were not provided immediate succour. Discrmination with the Dogra youth will not be tolerated anymore”, warned Mankotia.
