Chief coach of the Hockey team of Jammu and Kashmir Police, Charanjit Singh and assistant coach, Gurjit Sing have become officers after their promotion as Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) in the Armed Wing of the UT Police.Charanjit Singh joined JKP as a young hockey player in 1988 and was given out of turn promotion in 2006 after J&K Police team secured bronze medal in the All India Police Games. On the other hand, Gurjit has the distinction of being only international player in the J&K Police team.Charanjit was decorated with the shining stars by his mother and wife. Presently Charanjit and Gurjit, along with the entire batch of newly promoted ASIs undergo necessary training at Police Academy, Udhampur.
