JKPDC, Shaheen FC reach QFs of Football Gold Cup

JAMMU, Jan 16:
The J&K Power Development Corporation (JKPDC) and Shaheen Football Club won their respective pre-quarterfinals to reach the last eight stages of the ongoing 12th Christmas Gold Cup Football Tournament at GGM Science College ground, here today.
The departmental side of JKPDC blanked DFA Anantnag 4-0. Leading by a goal in the first half of the play, JKPDC added three more goals in a gap of 10 minutes, soon after the play started after the drinks break, so as to take an invincible lead. Aqib (37th), Tahfeem (41st), Imaddin
(46th) and Yasir (49th) were the scorers.
In another pre-quarterfinal stages match, Shaheen FC made it a solitary goal win against Acro FC Baramulla. Vivek Singh netted the all important goal in the 37th minute of the well contested match.
Today’s matches officiated by the technical penal including Suresh Gupta, Ricky Kumar,
Koushal Sharma, Rocky Sharma, Vijay Kumar, Dheeraj Meenia, Ajay Singh and Mohinder Kalsi (Physio).
Among others who witnessed today’s pre-quarterfinals included S M Gill (ex MLC and president All J&K Christian Welfare Association), ZA Thakur (president JKFA; Surinder Bunty (treasurer JKFA); Sheikh Mehmood (president DFA Jammu); Fayaz Ahmed Sofi (president DFA Srinagar), Ramesh
Chander (vice president JKFA Jammu); Nazir Ahmed (chairman Referee Committee), David Masih, Yousuf Don, Ranjeet Singh, Varinder Gupta, Charanpreet Singh and Rajesh Sumbria.
FIXTURES: J&K Bank Academy meets J&K Police in quarterfinals at 3 pm tomorrow.
