J&K’s 70-year-long dream of three-tier PRI system realised today: Yudhvir

JAMMU, Feb 7:
The long-pending dream of establishment of three-tier system of the Panchayati Raj Institutions has been realised in Jammu and Kashmir with the election of chairpersons of District Development Councils, Bharatiya Janata Party Senior Vice-President Yudhvir Sethi said.
“With this the Union Territory has moved into a new era of strengthened grassroots development,” said Sethi, while addressing a rally taken out after the election of DDC Chairman for district Kathua today.
Colonel Maan Singh was elected as Chairman of the DDC Kathua while Raghunandan Singh Bablu was elected as Vice Chairman. They both took oath in a simple but impressive function organised at Kathua, which was also graced by Yudhvir Sethi, who is the In-charge of Kathua district.
Soon after the oath taking ceremony, a rally was taken out in Kathua district which witnessed huge participation of BJP workers including all the district presidents and general public as well.
Addressing the rally, Sethi said that the establishment of three-tier system of the Panchayati Raj Institutions under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been the watershed moment for grassroots democracy in Jammu and Kashmir.
“History is being written as the BJP Government has established three tiers of PRI system in Jammu and Kashmir viz. Panchayats, Block Development Councils and District Development Councils, after a wait for over 70 years, thus realising a long-pending dream. This move not only strengthened grassroots democracy in the Union Territory but also put the power back with the people,” Sethi told the gathering.
With the election of DDC chairpersons, J&K has moved towards a new era today, Sethi said.
Sethi expressed his gratitude towards people of Kathua who voted in huge numbers and gave Bharatiya Janata Party a majority, 13 of 14 seats in the DDC elections. “Equally great and significant is the contribution of the party workers who worked day and night in these elections,” he added.
Speaking on the occasion, newly elected Chairperson of DDC, Colonel Maan Singh said that his team will work tirelessly to change the developmental face of district Kathua in the time to come. “We will work to the best of our abilities to ensure that all the grievances of all people are resolved at the earliest,” he added.
Raghunandan Singh Bablu vowed to carry-forward the Mantra of ‘Good-Governance’ and will take all the flagship schemes launched by the Modi government at grass roots level.
Gopal Mahajan State Secretary and Prabhari was also present.
