A strong protest was held outside the Digiana Ashram Jammu on National Highway under the banner of Sikh United Front J&K lead by S. Sudershan Singh Wazir Chairman Sikh United front along with the cooperation of various Sikh Organization J&K including Sheromani Akali Dal J&K, Bhai Kanaya Nishkam Seva Society J&K, Sikh Naujwan Sabha, AISSF, Sikh Welfare Society, Sheromani Youth Akali Dal, IStri Akali Dal, Local Gurdwara Committees and Members of DGPC Jammu. The protest against mob attack on Gurdwara Nankana Sahib Pakistan the Birth place of Guru Nanak Sahib and the stone pelting on the Sikh pilgrims in Pakistan.
While leading the protest S. Sudershan Singh Wazir lambasted the Imran Khan Govt. for its double standards saying that on one hand Pakistani govt. opens Kartarpur corridor to Sikh devotees for pilgrimage of Kartarpur Sahib Gurdwara while on the other hand some miscreants pelted stones and uttered abusive words for the same shrine and Sikh community as a whole which is living in minority in the state of Pakistan. He urged the Pakistan Govt. to insure the security and safety of religious places of minorities in that country as the attack has hurt the Sikh sentiments not only of Sikh community all over the world but members of other religion as well. He reminded the govt. of Pakistan of Sikhs fighting against the atrocities of Muslim rulers and Sikh warriors General Bhagel Singh being responsible for the end of Mughal rule in India “And History will repeat itself if Pakistan failed to act in this case”. Mr. Wazir also strongly condemned the targeting killing of minority Sikh community member in Pakistan, Peshwar the beheading incident are brutal, Sikhs are unsafe in the area and Pakistan Govt. has failed to provide them security.
Senior congress leader Shri Raman Bhalla Ex-Minister also joined the protest while Addressing protesters, Bhalla called the act by Miscreants utterly reprehensible and totally condemnable. He termed attack on Nanakana Sahib shameful, disgraceful and utterly vile and unjustifiable. Shame on the vandals and hope they are brought to book immediately. Expressing dismay and concern on the safety of Sikh pilgrims and employees, Bhalla called upon the Centre to immediately take up the issue with Pakistani authorities to ensure security for pilgrims and adequate security for the Holy shrine to prevent any future attacks. He further said such incidents are not tolerable and the Government of India must convey the concerns and sentiments of the people in strongest manner to Pakistan and ask it to check such elements and prevent the recurrence of any such mischievous incident against Nankana Sahib and other .
The Nankana Sahib attack is violative of the 1955 Pant-Mirza Agreement under which India and Pakistan are obliged “to make every effort to ensure that the places of worship” visited by members of their countries “are properly maintained and their sanctity preserved, he also strongly condemned the “targeted killing” of a minority Sikh community member in Pakistan’s Peshawar.Bhalla said Pakistan should stop “prevaricating” and take immediate action to apprehend and give exemplary punishment to the perpetrators of the crime.Bhalla said members of the minority Sikh community in Pakistan have been subjected to acts of violence at the holy city of Nankana Sahib, the birthplace of Guru Nanak Dev.
