Like the other parts of UT of J&K, Jammu Municipal Corporation also organized a function to celebrate 15th National Voters’ Day in its premises here under the aegis of Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation Dr. Devansh Yadav.
Speaking on the occasion, the Commissioner highlighted the importance of vote and massive participation of voters in the democratic process. He said that the primary objective of National Voters’ Day is to raise awareness about the significance of voting and encourage citizens, especially the younger generation, to exercise their right to franchise.
Dr. Devansh Yadav complimented ERO, AC-76, jammu East and ERO AC-78- Jammu West for their efforts in successful conduct of Parliamentary and Assembly elections in 2024.
He also hoped that with the continued efforts of all stakeholders, the upcoming elections would also be conducted smoothly and with full participation, ensuring that the electoral process remains robust and transparent.
The Commissioner said that NVD celebrations serve as a reminder of the importance of casting a vote and its role in strengthening democracy. The observance of NVD plays a pivotal role in sensitizing voters , particularly young voters, about the importance of their votes, the Commissioner said and added that young voters represent a crucial segment of the electorate, whose involvement can make a significant difference in the electoral outcomes.
Highlighting the theme, ‘Nothing Like Voting, I Vote for Sure,’ the commissioner elaborated how this theme reflects the personal commitment of individuals toward exercising their right to vote.
Joint Commissioner, (A), (ERO ,AC-76- Jammu East), Krishan Lal in his welcome address expressed his gratitude to the officials for extending cooperation during both the elections.
AEROs, Supervisors, BLOs were felicitated by presenting mementoes and certificates. Earlier, a pledge was also administered among the participants on the occasion. Secretary, JMC (ERO, AC-78- Jammu West) S. Chand Singh presented Votes of thanks on the occasion.
Among others, Joint Commissioner, H&S, Abdul Star, Deputy Commissioner, (South) JMC, Lal Chand, officers, officials of JMC, AEROs, Supervisors, BLOs were present on the occasion.
